A teen girl who was denied a kidney transplant during the COVID pandemic because she did not take the experimental vaccination has gotten her transplant.
But a report from the Christian Post confirms that a lawsuit over the discrimination she suffered at the hands of Duke University as well as a proposal that would make it illegal to do that to others, continues.
The Christian Post said it was Yulia Hicks who just days ago was given a kidney from an “amazing live donor.” The report cited an update on GiveSendGo’s fundraising page, “Kidney for Yulia.”
Her family had charged last winter that Duke University refused her a transplant because of her vaccination status.
She is the adopted daughter of Chrissy and Lee Hicks, and according to the Christian Post report is recovering well.
The update said, “We are now focusing our attention on Yulia’s healing, getting Yulia’s law passed, and the lawsuit with Duke.”
The law, House Bill 586, is pending in the Republican-majority state assembly in North Carolina, and would state plainly that “an individual’s right to health care is not diminished by a refusal to get a COVID-19 vaccine.”
It would make such discrimination illegal. It already has been adopted by the House and is pending in the Senate.
You have to wonder if the donor took the shot
