(May 31, 2023, Salisbury, MD) – Each year on May 31st, the World Health Organization (WHO) sponsors World No Tobacco Day to encourage people to quit smoking tobacco for 24 hours or as the start of a long-term quit attempt. This year’s theme is “We need food, not tobacco”. The 2023 global campaign aims to raise awareness about alternative crop production opportunities for tobacco farmers and encourage them to grow sustainable, nutritious crops, to help contribute to the global food crisis. It also exposes the tobacco industry’s efforts to interfere with attempts to substitute tobacco growing with sustainable crops.
In recognition of World No Tobacco Day, the Wicomico County Health Department will be distributing quit kits. They have items to keep the mouth, hands and brain busy, and to relieve stress. Pick up a quit kit for yourself or someone you care about.

Any more of this total woke BS and I’m done! If I wanna smoke I’m gonna smoke! My daddy smoked 2 packs a day and lived a good long life. And my ancestors ran a tobacco farm with hundreds of pickers, and everyone benefited.
The monies spent on kits, were less than 21% of the country smokes tobacco now. 21%
Folks who drink alcohol – greater than 90%
More than 21% smoke pot – which is replacing tobacco as a revenue generator!
If it were not for tobacco crops Virginia and Maryland colonies would have failed miserably. If it were not for taxes on tobacco products the state governments of Virginia and Maryland would be bankrupt.
But, yet the government now legalizes and makes money from recreational marijuana use.
