The fact is, adults are driving this sexual-identity political agenda, while saying that the students wanted it. They don’t. Students know nothing of the sort, as they are being sexually indoctrinated by the school as well as influenced from local activist organizations. The school is driving the idea, the nominating process, and the cost of the third chair – all orchestrated by WCPS faculty. This has nothing to do with diversity, equity and inclusion as they try to make it about. Somehow, everyone is required to roleplay in one’s world of make-believe and affirm it.
Before the prom King and Queen were announced, the red carpet was rolled out for the non-binary seat to be featured first. The teacher who served as MC announced a title of “Sovereign” for the student who was selected. Few students clapped, but booing could also be heard. The school system is fully responsible for implementing an agenda of identity politics and provoking the students, regardless of their reaction.
What is the criteria for the third prom seat?
Non-binary people may identify as an intermediate or separate third gender, identify with more than one gender, no gender, or have a fluctuating gender identity, and may have various sexual orientations.
This has nothing to do with anything. That means that someone had to use this criteria to identify, recruit, and target a student in order to feature this imaginary seat. Somehow, the children are getting all mixed up in this faculty-led orb of confusion. The kids just want a prom.
On the morning of the prom, Superintendent Micha Stauffer was informed of the third chair and provided an opportunity to stop it. He did nothing about it. His choice was to have this article published as just another example of what the school system is doing to our children in addition to using sexually-explicit materials in the classroom (which Superintendent Stauffer admits in this article).
Why would they do this, and who is responsible?
The agenda of the third seat is to create a wedge between man and woman. There are only two genders. To suggest, recommend, encourage, or insist otherwise is gender-identity indoctrination. In the end, the elected school board is ultimately responsible. It is amazing all of the things that administration and faculty do to place the board members in such dilemmas. The board members should either be angry or ashamed – nothing in between…like a third chair.

It really calls for a massive withdrawal from public schools. A lot of the teachers in the county lean to the right. If they banded together and created some kind of affordable home school/private school option they’d have no problem filling it up. Funding would go in the toilet for the public schools because it’s based in part on headcount. No students…not funding.
My wife’s a teacher and has given serious thought on how she can make it happen.
Please please please encourage your wife and other like minded teachers to offer an alternative. Believe me-it will be in demand. Everyone can see how our government system has totally failed our children.

Why do we continue to pander to 1% of the population? Was this really needed. Great now more confusion for my 7th grader to navigate. I wish the BOE would spend more time maximizing their budget than doing woke feel good things.

If the elected board does not publicly denounce this then they approve of it. I am a teacher at Parkside and this happens a lot and is appalling. Confusing 14, 15, and 16 year olds is child abuse.

The human species has two sexes and they are sexually dimorphic. That is, they differ from one another in characteristic physical ways, large and small, usually outwardly visible but almost always present in chromosomes and internal anatomy.
Asserting these basic facts of human biology ought not to be controversial, but a strange doctrine has arisen lately that asserts that some humans are best understood as “transgender,” and that society has an obligation to recognize this condition, respect it, and make numerous adjustments to accommodate it.
“Gender dysphoria”—an individual’s false belief that he or she is not accurately described by his or her actual sex—was not long ago recognized as a mental health condition. (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Third Edition). The field of clinical psychology having proved its eagerness to endorse a great many political enthusiasms, has turned away from that classification, but the truth remains that an eagerness to be seen as a member of the opposite sex is best understood as a neurosis.
Gender dysphoria is one of several forms of body dysphoria. Another is anorexia nervosa, in which the victim starves herself in the false belief that she is fat. Even this form of delusion has attracted defenders who argue that the views of those who suffer from anorexia should be respected, but fortunately this eccentric claim has been dismissed as nonsensical by the medical establishment and the public at large. Anorexia nervosa leads to disfigurement and death. Gender dysphoria can likewise lead to severe medical consequences.
Placing a third chair on the stage is part of feeding this false narrative, and is part of a shameful untruth perpetrated by the Superintendent and the completely misguided staff.
Dr. Stauffer, I warned you that this would be your undoing, and as predicted, this is occurring. Its is my understanding that several parents are seriously considering next steps legally, and they have the financial wherewithal to do so. There is something I don’t understand about this – in Worcester County students are given the list of students to pick from for Prom King & Prom Queen, which would be all male and female Seniors attending the Prom. The students then turn in ballots the weeks leading up to the Prom & the winners are announced at Prom. How was this so called “non binary” sovereign picked? Did administration just pick a student or were students actually given ballots with this new category on it and did not tell their parents this was happening? Or does Wicomico elect Prom Court differently?
