Here Are All the Candidates Running to Replace Maryland’s Ben Cardin in the US Senate

Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin announced at the beginning of the month that he will not seek reelection after his current term in the U.S. Senate ends, leaving his seat representing Maryland up for grabs in 2024.

Since Cardin announced his retirement, a slew of politicians and activists from around Maryland have stated that they will enter the race to represent the state at the federal level.

Here’s the full list of candidates running for Senate in Maryland in 2024. This list will be updated if and when any other candidates announce their entry into the race.

Angela Alsobrooks

Angela Alsobrooks, the chief executive of Maryland’s Prince George’s County and a Black Democrat, announced her candidacy on May 9.

When Alsobrooks won the 2018 election for the chief executive position, she became the first woman to hold that office, according to the Associated Press. She previously served two terms as the state’s attorney for Prince George’s County.

While in office, she has focused on creating jobs, investing in education and expanding access to health care, mental health and addiction treatment, the AP reports.

  1. Dear Readers,

It’s clear that elections can often generate substantial uncertainties. As a former participant I know that as well as anyone. And those of you who know me are well advised to spread awareness and to advise citizens who participate that their salubrious disinformational protests are not futile. You must maintain hope. That being the case, let us be true. We all know Trump is a lier and a fraud.

    Respectfully,

  2. PG County is a crime-ridden $4!th0le – Alsobrooks would spread that condition to the rest of the state.
Trone won’t finish his currently elected obligations to become a Senator – just like he will turn his back on the state if elected.
Jawando is a socialist – stabilizing rents and reforming the police are not in the best interests of the general population.
Segal is again running for this seat – doesn’t realize how the other Democrats have done the Jewish community wrong so many times….
Robin Ficker has also stated he is running – but the famous line says “He lugs a trainload of shit behind him that could fertilize the Sinai.”

This truly leaves us with some crappy choices – but I would rather have a Republican….
