Tennessee using eminent domain to seize farmland to connect electric truck and battery plants to interstate

The state of Tennessee is using eminent domain to seize land in order to build connecting roads from a new electric truck plant to the interstate, undervaluing the land of local farmers in a series of lawsuits, according to the Tennessee Lookout.

Blue Oval City, an electric truck and battery assembly complex named after the Ford logo, is set to be operational in 2025. The state’s department of transportation has planned a new highway to service the massive development, which would allow employees and shipments alike to travel into and out of the area.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the state is looking to purchase or seize 35 separate tracts to construct connections and widenings to link the Ford campus with a new exit to accommodate workers and manufacturing.

The state has taken 15 tracts so far, according to a spokesperson, and is in negotiations with property owners for the remaining 20.

  1. Why doesn’t FORD buy the land? PAY for the roads that will make them rich?

WHY do our “leaders” CONSTANTLY give our money to billion dollar companies to help them avoid spending their own money (their PROFITS)??

Build stadiums and GIVE them to rich men. Sell land and buildings dirt cheap to rich men (even here in Salisbury you see it done!) so they can make MORE money.
Now, they confiscate land to make sure rich people can “get their products to market”. “Getting the product to market” USED to be the responsibility of the company. Now it’s the burden of taxpayers. Courtesy of your bribe-taking, slimy, back door dealing, underhanded, selfish “leaders”.

I’ll bet the farmers who have worked that land for years — generations, perhaps — are now thinking about how a revolution might benefit THEM. It may not get their land back, but it would sure feel good to watch these blood sucking politicians hanging from an oak tree.

Jefferson told us what we would need to do.

  2. I’m sure the government will make a very fair offer too. I imagine it being like an episode of pawn stars. “You’re land is appraised at 2 million, but in today’s market best we can do is 300k”.
