4 HEALTHY REASONS TO DRINK BEER

Seems like alcohol has been getting a lot of bad press lately. But Piedmont Healthcare is bucking that trend and celebrating some of beer’s healthier aspects.

Here’s the deal…

Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare is getting bullish about beer and it’s about time that someone has. Following years of health officials championing the health benefits of wine, beer is finally getting a little medically-endorsed love.

After surveying a wide spectrum of health care studies, Piedmont Healthcare pulled together a list of some of the top health benefits that come with drinking beer.

And we’re all about it!

Beer is More Nutritious than Most Alcoholic Drinks

Yes wine is chock full of antioxidants, but hops have antioxidant qualities as well. And that’s just the beginning!

, 4 Healthy Reasons To Drink Beer “We hear a lot about the abundance of antioxidants in wine, but beer has just as many,” Piedmont Healthcare reported. “The specific antioxidants are different because the flavonoids in barley and hops are different from those in grapes, but antioxidants are a good thing. Beer is also higher than wine in protein and vitamin B. Even better, beer contains iron, calcium, phosphates and even fiber.”

Beer Can Reduce Bad Cholesterol

Cholesterol comes in good (HDL) and bad (LDL) forms. And a study published in the American Heart Association: Circulation discovered that soluble fiber in beer is beneficial to one’s health.

“The soluble fiber in beer can help reduce your LDL or “bad” cholesterol,” Piedmont Healthcare reported. “Increasing your intake of soluble fiber has numerous health benefits, including the promotion of healthy blood-sugar and blood-cholesterol levels.”

  1. Doctors in Great Britain have been prescribing a pint a day for many nursing home and undernourished and constipated patients for over 100 years. Guinness is good!
