California police union executive director ran fentanyl operation from home: feds

A California police union executive director allegedly ran a drug ring from her home and used her office computer and UPS account to order and distribute opioids and other drugs, federal officials charge.

Joanne Marian Segovia, who has worked for the San Jose Police Officers Association since 2003, was charged on Wednesday with attempting to unlawfully import a synthetic opioid called Valeryl fentanyl.

She faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison if convicted, authorities said.

Police union President Sean Pritchard was shocked by the charges, telling NBC Bay Area, “She’s been the grandma of the POA.”

“This is not the person we’ve known, the person who has worked with fallen officers’ families, organized fundraisers for officers’ kids — just not who we’ve known over a decade.”

  1. I’ve been telling you for YEARS that it ain’t Tyrone from Harlem getting 12 tons of cocaine into the country.

You ridiculed that and dismissed it while cheering as SWAT teams kicked down the doors of thousands of people and caught them with ……..2 ounces of coke.
Months long undercover “investigations, where police dress up like hippies and bust 40 people with a total of 2 lbs of pot and $3800 in cash. AFTER spending $150,000 in salaries and costumes.
    Officer of the Year.
It’s Coast Guard commanders, State Police commanders, SENATORS, Naval commanders, diplomats, and police (at all levels) who make sure thousands of pounds of cocaine hit the streets every day. Money talks.
Police will threaten street level dealers with life in prison and jailing their mom unless they give up THEIR supplier. BUT, sooner or later, they get to the point where the next guy (or gal) up the ladder is somebody that can get you killed or ruin your career and it ain’t exactly clear they can be prosecuted anyway (the higher you go, the more levels of deniability).
SO, its’ back to “dress up time” and costume parties and headlines about the latest “undercover investigation” that took a few more punks off the street.
You cheer wildly!! Heroes, every one.
Try looking at the bigger picture. The guy on TV and at the news conference that is telling you how he will” get these bloodsucking thugs off the street” is going back home, making a couple of calls on a burner phone and setting up a 5 ton delivery to a warehouse down the street.

And laughing at how no one ever wonders how he is so rich as a “public servant”.

    Stop that stupid cheering.
