Baltimore mother calls on someone, anyone, to fix city schools

A Baltimore City mother is calling on someone, anyone, to fix city schools. And she says major changes need to happen now, or she’s leaving.

“There’s nothing up there for them. Nothing. They go there to get babysit for eight hours and come home,” said Nichelle Watkins, the mother of a Baltimore City student. “I feel like they don’t care. It’s not their children; they don’t care.”

Watkins is exhausted after years of pleading for help from Baltimore City Public Schools.

“Look around, I’m in public housing,” she said. “I can’t afford no thousand-dollar tutor from Sylvan. But that’s what he needs, a tutor.”

Her son is in fourth grade at Johnston Square Elementary. For years, she says, she’s been asking the school system to hold her son back to give him time to learn the material instead of pushing him through the grades. Five months ago, in October, she even wrote Project Baltimore asking for help, saying her son is not getting the education he needs.

  1. She’s ON WELFARE.

    HOME ALL DAY.

SHE can’t help him with his school work???

    Oh.
    Right.

She’s as stupid as her kid.

    Her solution??
Make white people pay for a TUTOR.
Everything she has in life has been given to her by someone else.
And she ain’t happy. She needs MORE.

And she calls time at school “babysitting”. It’s NOT school, because if you knew ANYTHING about inner city schools, it’s not about learning. It’s all about surviving. And THAT is from a teacher’s viewpoint.
Say something wrong to one of those wanna-be gangsters and you get beaten or killed in the parking lot.
    Tutors??
In what? How to go for the artery when stabbing someone??

  2. so tired of hearing why I got to pay more in taxes for these freeloading scumbags! if you cant properly raise provide for and educate your progeny then you should not be allowed to create them!

  3. 1:32 and 5:00pm…….I’ll let the facts speak for themselves. One of the greater problems you have is that, whenever the FACTS hurt your feelings, the FIRST thing you do is cry “racist!!”. That’s all you got.
The TRUTH cannot be “racist”. 23 schools and 2000 students and NOT ONE can do math??? That ain’t racist, buddy. THAT is a FACT (reported by democrats!!)

My parents, like so many others, actually looked at our reports cards and there BETTER NOT be a “C” or a “D” on it.
    An “F” was a guaranteed ass-whipping.
    They checked our homework, too.

There was NO WAY we would be able to hide the fact that we couldn’t read or do math.
These parents in Baltimore (and I’ll bet a month’s salary on it) are mostly on welfare. And instead of taking ANY blame or responsibility, they FIRST want someone to GIVE THEM more stuff, in this case, a tutor.
THAT is also a fact. She SAID it, not me.
By the way, I ran a finance office for a major company in Washington, DC in the eighties.. Fifteen thousand open credit accounts. Read that again.
14,500 or more were families on welfare. For at least three generations. THREE GENERATIONS!!!
    There’s another FACT.
    Racist, my ass.
“The truth hurts” would be a more realistic admission.
