Hundreds of politicians who received donations from doomed crypto firm FTX have been asked to return the money so it can repay its investors or face the possibility of being sued

Hundreds of politicians who received donations from doomed crypto firm FTX have been asked to return the money so it can repay its investors or face the possibility of being sued.

FTX said in a statement it was sending ‘confidential messages’ to political leaders after the firm, under leadership of disgraced founder Sam Bankman-Fried, made upwards of $40 million in donations during the 2022 election cycle.

Those who benefited were mostly members of the Democratic party and include former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, current Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and Senator Mitt Romney.

Now they face being sued if they do not repay FTX by the end of the month as the company’s new management seeks to repay its estimated 1 million creditors.

‘To the extent such payments are not returned voluntarily, the FTX Debtors reserve the right to commence actions before the Bankruptcy Court to require the return of such payments, with interest accruing from the date any action is commenced,’ read a statement from FTX on Sunday.

  1. Don’t worry politicians, you can always come up with another vote to raise your pay, or find a new law to manipulate your stock payout, so you can get that money back.
