Under new Maryland law, student doesn’t face charges after bringing gun to school

A 12-year-old boy escaped legal consequences after he brought a gun to school earlier this week, according to Anne Arundel County police.

On Thursday, police say the school resource officer at MacArthur Middle School was notified of a 12-year-old student who had a handgun, loaded magazine, and loose ammunition in a bag at the school.

The school says an investigation found that a handgun and magazine were found inside the fanny pack, but the gun was not loaded with bullets inside of the chamber; only a magazine with ammunition was found inside of the gun.

  1. Based on the beautiful 2nd Amendment that’s EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE. The constitution doesn’t limit the right to bear arms in terms of age. It says it’s a right of the people. All people. Kids should be able to carry just the same as adults. Otherwise, if you limit kid’s rights to carry you end up on a slippery slope: if you can ban “Billy” from carrying when he’s 15, do you have to change his right when he’s 18? Wait until he’s 21? How about if “Billy” has to wait until 25? Or 45? Or how about “Billy” can never carry a gun ever? See the problem? The right to bear arms is and was meant to be absolute. Even the kid on “The Rifleman” tv show got to have his own lever-action rifle. And that’s exactly as it should be.
