“Just give it to me. Send me money. I don’t want to work — I’m too lazy, I’m too fat, I’m too stupid.”
Bernie Marcus, who along with his business partner Arthur Blank built Home Depot into a giant financial success, slammed Americans who don’t want to work.
Marcus, whom Bloomberg estimates has a net worth of $5.25 billion but has, with his wife, donated over $2 billion to over 500 organizations through their Marcus Foundation, spoke in an interview with Financial Times.
“I’m worried about capitalism,” Marcus stated. “Capitalism is the basis of Home Depot [and] millions of people have earned this success and had success. I’m talking manufacturers, vendors and distributors and people that work for us [who have been] able to enrich themselves by the journey of Home Depot. That’s the success. That’s why capitalism works.”
Marcus continued that thanks to “socialism,” “nobody works. Nobody gives a damn. ‘Just give it to me. Send me money. I don’t want to work — I’m too lazy, I’m too fat, I’m too stupid.’”
Marcus wasn’t worried about any criticism he might elicit about his comments, especially from those he termed “woke.” He declared, “We used to have free speech here. We don’t have it. The woke people have taken over the world. You know, I imagine today they can’t attack me. I’m 93. Who gives a crap about Bernie Marcus?”
If you have not been to Home Depot lately, pay them a visit. What stock they do have, you can’t find or get to it as its one big anti-shop lift experience. If you can actually find what you are looking for, good luck on finding someone who can unlock their stock bins so you can take the product to the self serve registers. Honestly, it’s become one big junk store that’s overly focused on catching shop lifters. It’s a better choice to use Amazon or even Ebay and have your purchase shipped to you at home.
Bout time somebody said it. People with clout need to stop being woke, and nice, and call this shit out. The government wants a dependent society so they have complete control. Dream on assholes. We will never give in to you.

Home Depot is a joke! I took the day off from work to receive a pallet of flooring, their automated FAKE text messages started dinging me at 8 am with updates throughout the day ultimately not arriving with no explanation. I don’t like having to become an ASSHOLE with anyone especially working people just stuck in an incompetent corporate machine but I had to GO THERE to get them to deliver on not THEIR next available Saturday but MINE and to return my delivery fee. So yeah that old man should get off his high saw horse and address his now failing mega business model.
Home Depot has changed it’s policy on Veteran discounts. Now, you have to have a smart phone and use it every time you make a purchase. My husband and I do not have smart phones , so we are just out of luck for discounts. But, that’s ok, because Lowe’s still gives you the veterans discount with just your phone number. Hello Lowe’s!! Good bye Home Depot! No more shopping at Home Depot for that reason.
