The scooters that are in town are becoming, in my opinion, a dangerous nuisance. I see mostly kids riding them, sometimes two on a scooter, no helmets, going against and weaving in traffic. In fact, I’ve not seen anyone of driving age riding one. These are motorized modes of transportation, so shouldn’t the same rules apply to them as to motorcycles? Who is in charge of these bikes and why do we even have them? When the rider is done with them, they are just left everywhere. But as usual, nothing will change until one of them gets injured or killed.

The city didn’t buy anything. They’re all owned by a private company that pays the city a licensing fee. The city is supposed to regulate them, but they’re a little short on getting the word out to users, many of whom appear to have difficulty in reading the instructions printed on each machine.

Why were they purchased? They are just more wasted money. JAKE DAY wasted money on the exact program on bicycles couple of years ago. The bicycle lanes are another waste of money very dangerous , since they interfere with turn lanes without end warning. DAY wasted paint for political statements. Day has destroyed SALISBURY’S history by destroying buildings and replacing with high rises for drugs and homeless. These buildings will be the GETTOS of Salisbury and money makers slums for his buddies. DAY has run several businesses out of Salisbury so you feel unsafe to walk in Salisbury.

I called the city on this issue and was informed they had nothing to do with it. Gave me the number of the company supplying the scooters. Was told they pick them up weekly and their were recharging places around for them to be left at.. I have seen no charging stations and the scooters are laying around on side walks or just tossed in various places. When I asked who had approved such permit, mayor, city council, etc . this info could not be answered. So why does no one know who approved this business? Wondering?
