Maryland cop arrested over in-custody Kohl’s lot rape allegedly had more victims, history of misconduct

At least 6 more women have come forward after the arrest of fired Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Abreu, who is accused of rape

Maryland sheriff who made the decision to fire and criminally charge one of his own deputies following an investigation into allegations that he raped a woman held in custody in a Kohl’s parking lot spoke to Fox News Digital about how law enforcement has been forced to “lower our standards” in hiring in the post-defund-police era.

Steven Victor Abreu, 30, was fired from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and charged with second-degree rape, fourth-degree sexual offense, second-degree assault, false imprisonment, sexual contact while a person is in law enforcement custody and three counts of misconduct in office following an internal investigation into an alleged October incident involving a 27-year-old victim identified in the affidavit only as “JA.”

Since Abreu’s arrest, Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis said an additional six to seven victims have come forward.

The charges range in degree of severity from women who Abreu allegedly spoke to inappropriately during traffic stops and exchanged phone numbers with to one encounter involving Abreu having sexual intercourse with a woman.

On Oct. 30, 2022, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding Deputy Steven Abreu. The matter was immediately assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. After interviews with witnesses and a consultation with the Office of the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County, Abreu was taken into custody and charged with Rape Second Degree, Sexual Offense Fourth Degree, Assault Second Degree, False Imprisonment, Sexual Contact while a person is in law enforcement custody and Misconduct in Office (3 counts).

Publishers Notes: I told you it was going to get worse once exposed. Sheriff Mike Lewis should’ve terminated this guy many months ago but only suspended him for 4 days. This incident is on you Mike Lewis. The buck stops at your office/command.

  1. After a every nice/quiet weekend – BAM!

4 adam 12; 4 adam 12, look into woman apprehended by local sheriff deputy
    Bookem Dano
Car 54 – where are you?
7 mary 3, 7 mary 4 with woman inappropriately touch during traffic stop
    Zebra 3 Zebra 3
Quick – somebody call the Sheriff. Oh Sheriff Andy Taylor is down by the fish hole, he told us not to both him.

    Again – Unbelievable!

    Heads shall roll.

  2. I overheard two cops talking……one of them said not only did he engage in this behavior, but he was married with 4 children.
Thank God the cop sounded disgusted about that.

For those who are given great power (including the right to kill you), great consequences must also be given for failure to honor the trust “We, the People”, have given them. Can you for a moment imagine the terror these women felt……

    1. as long as Little Mikey Lewis controls this county like the corrupt sheriff of Rottingham….no real consequences will apply…

  3. I’m glad other women are coming forward… I’d like to see a lot more come forward I know this has happened in the past and a lot of retired state police are guilty

  4. Mike Lewis kept this hidden for several weeks….too many women came forward and could not be silence and so he had the change the narrative…scum….

  5. All I can say is don’t let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch.
As a former Police officer back in the early eighties, I know from personal experience there are always a few bad cops, even people in emergency services. But you can’t judge them all based on a few bad apples.
Most of them are hard working and dedicated professionals and I was proud to be a part of that.
I used to feel the same way until I started working there and realized that they handle the worst in society on a daily basis. Dayshift was a blessing because most of that was administrative, but afternoons and evening shifts and weekends and holidays were the worst, and the pay wasn’t all that great! That was the main reason I resigned.
They also have a high divorce and suicide rate. The stress was incredible!

      1. clearly the county’s “best” resulted in a serial rapist operating behind the badge…if you can’t understand why cops need to be held to a HIGHER STANDARD because of the job they took, then you’re clearly part of the problem and a good reason why so many patriots…from BLM to right leaning folks like myself have utter contempt for these government agents of death with such loose morals…

    1. actually, the expression literally is that “one bad apple spoils the bunch”…this guy operated with impunity and was protected by hanging Mikey Lewis…the same people who call ALL teachers groomers should have taste of their medicine. Bottom line is that apart from being statistically safer than many other jobs, the pay is actually way higher than true public service jobs like FFs, EMTs and Teachers…the cops needs to grow up and get over the entitlement mentality…

  6. kops aint here to protect you. They are here to protect the government from you! remember that and you’ll know where you stand!
