Wicomico Candidates Bite The Forbidden Fruit of The Deceptive Teachers’ Union

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” – Sir Walter Scott

The teachers’ union is dishonestly working to initiate problems in a structure with complications, strictly for the purpose of control and not education.

Behold the candidates who have bitten the forbidden fruit and accepted an endorsement from the deceptive teachers’ union. For those who are unaware, the teachers’ union consists of the National Education Association (NEA), the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA), and their local chapter called the Wicomico County Education Association (WCEA). Each election season, the union selects and endorses the candidates that will carry out their self-serving political mission on the frontline.

Of those endorsed by the union at the local level, these individuals now stand as Wicomico’s “Poison Apple Candidates” in the 2022 General Election. “Teacher Recommended” is quite deceptive when the union doesn’t speak for all teachers in Wicomico County. Membership in the union is optional for teachers, and not all teachers are members.

A reminder of what the union has done and is doing in our schools:
  • Worked to unnecessarily keep our schools closed and influenced unconstitutional forced health mandates to override the rights of citizens.

  • Continues to work to hide curriculum from parents and keep them out of education.

  • Interferes in areas beyond collective bargaining.

  • Influences and interferes with curriculum.

  • Anti-law enforcement: Against having more School Resource Officers (SROs) and prefers Social Workers and Psychologists so they can collect more member dues.

  • Uses member dues to lobby for harmful legislation and to support failed policies.

  • Supports Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

  • Supports BLM https://marylandeducators.org/grants-support-black-lives-matter-at-school/

  • Injects and encourages political activism in the classroom and sees teachers as activists. https://marylandeducators.org/your-rights-as-an-educator-activist/

  • Embraces sexually explicit materials.

  • Exploits our administrators, teachers, students, and parents.

  • Wants to control all levels of government.

  • Fails member-teachers when they need legal assistance.

  • Interferes with elections and uses member dues to support liberal political campaigns.

  • Exploits the taxpayer’s resources by having dedicated use of our school offices, electricity, Internet, communication systems, and paid days off for union member development training on the taxpayer’s dime.

These candidates are their champions, because they will tow the line of the union. Their agenda is not in the best interest of our children. Both the union and the citizens cannot be simultaneously represented by our elected officials without impartiality. The union plays a major role in our currently failing school system, and seeks to control every aspect of government as a PAC.

Candidates that have accepted the union “Poison Apple Endorsement” include:

Wicomico County Executive

Ernest Davis

Wicomico County Council

Bradley Gillis (At Large)

Megan Outten (At Large)

Shanie Shields (District 1)

Talana Watson (District 2)

Josh Hastings (District 4)

  1. I used to belong to the union. I, among others had a disagreement about national affiliations and we were attacked relentlessly. These people care very little about the teachers and students. Their concern is power and greed.

  2. Look let me say this again as I have have for YEARS!!!
you want to solve this problem get frigging school vouchers on the ballot yesterday. Screw the teacher’s Union screw the board of education defune MD PUBLIC EDUCATION and put it back in the hands of the parents..
I don’t have kids but if I did they certainly wouldn’t be going to public schools… but if this gets on the ballots I have your backs. I’d vote to defund publication in a minute. Give me my voucher I ll send it to fund home schoolers or private.

  3. I interviewed for a job at the WCEA many years ago and luckily did not get it.
Part of the job criteria was to have the ability to deal with “emotional or angry” teachers.
Hmmm, I thought we were all adults here
It was like a day care for faculty.
    Clown show.

  4. The school system has become cheap daycare for the Piglets of the working class Hogs and people think teachers are overpaid. Home school or hire a Nanny. It’s recently UNREAL the contempt people have for teachers. Fine quit your Wal-Mart job and home school with your Christian Coloring books and see where that gets your bloodline.

  5. I t is my understanding that not all candidates were interview. Only those that they wanted to endorse.. bonnie ennis has already said that she expects to be chairman of the board.

  6. lmao at 5:03. and attitudes like that are precisely why the public holds you and the majority of your profession in contempt. as for bonnie for years she worked to get kids “so called special needs kids” (troublemakers expelled from their own school districts) sent to our local schools because those states funded the per student charge. more money to feed the beast! got herself a plum paycheck in the process! total failure and a joke!
