A Maryland teachers’ association blamed “white-centered contexts” for causing some students to be left behind academically, according to its website.

The Maryland State Education Association listed under their “racial and social justice” page on how standardized tests are biased against students of color.

“MSEA has a long tradition of opposing dangerous standardized tests that for so many years left strong students behind because of the white-centered contexts, and strongly advocating for culturally relevant pedagogy and instructional practices, restorative approaches to maintain safe and healthy school communities, the use of trauma-informed best practices and a focus on social-emotional learning, and unencumbered access to equitable opportunities for all students,” the association stated on their website. “We believe that the lives of our Black and Brown students matter and that all students have a fundamental right to be educated in safe, healthy, and supportive learning communities and all educators deserve safe, healthy, and supportive working environments.”

A teacher in Maryland, Julie Giordano, told Fox News Digital that this represents a wider problem in Maryland education to focus on so-called “equity” at the expense of academics.

“I was actually really appalled to see that. I am not part of the teachers union. I actually opted out years ago because they don’t really support the candidates that I want to support,” Giordano said, who is also running for Wicomico County executive as a Republican.

  1. This is why it is so important to know even the school-board members political views.

A few days ago on this forum, a list of conservative school-board members was published.

Please remind the readers who they are!

  2. From interacting with young people around Salisbury I can tell that they don’t teach math, civics, english, biology or history any longer. So what kinds of questions will be on the tests? Will there be equity when picking members for the sports teams? How about teaching these kids the basic skills they will need after graduation. Stop trying to indoctrinate them into the Liberal Demonrat cult.

  3. If you care about your kids you should do everything and anything you can to send them to private school.

  4. Okay, then. Stop pretending that lowering expectations for all to cater to a particular subset of underachievers doesn’t end up with inferior performance at all levels. If 30% of a classroom of Johnnies and Janes need the additional resources to understand the instruction that the 70% do, then provide it, but don’t punish the achievers as collateral damage of enacting a policy perfused with faux social justice, pessimism, hubris and downright laziness.

  5. Julie Groomerdano is one to talk…she’s proudly given standardized tests for 17 years at Bennett…all of a sudden she has an issue with it because she’s trying to be a professional politician? what a shock!

    1. you’re right, she has been grooming kids for 17 years. Why complain now? All for show, just like her video.

  6. Between her and Psota, not much to choose, but both are better than “Cornbread,” and the Democrat candidate to be the County Executive, Davis, is laughable. Joe Holloway is right, switching to an elected executive was a real mistake.

    1. Then why don’t you start a petition to go to a council/manager form of government the way it was prior to 2006! This is the biggest waste of Tax Dollars in Wicomico History!

  7. Let’s set the record straight! If Giordano accidentally gets elected, she will have ABSOLUTELY NO BY AUTHORITY over the School Board, Board Members, the Superintendent, schools, their budget, the teachers, nor the students!

To the few supporters, don’t get your hopes up!

    1. You hit the nail on the head, my friend! Facts! She is not the one to vote for! Out of the 3 I’m going to hold my breath and vote for John Psota!

  8. Julie Giordano, can’t even run her own financial affairs. How can she run the county? She’s concerned about math, she should have known the numbers that were due on her mortgage before she got foreclosed on. She should have done some simple math in the checkbook with simple addition and subtraction. Zero experience Julie.

    1. That’s right Folks! Julie Giordano allowed he house to go into foreclosure with the bank! That’s right the house that she and her husband and children lived in went into foreclosure and they had to go live with relatives!

People with a financial history like Julie usually embezzle from their employer! Do you want Julie to embezzle from you, the county tax payers?? You’ve been warned!

  9. dont trust her at all, at best she’s a rino or worse a democrat child groomer in sheeps clothing. Part of the system part of the problem! clueless! is that what we want need? she should know the county exec doesnt have any say over school board budgets or matters. Lies at the state level with idiot hogan! and if she doenst know, well then product of public schooling?

  10. The county executive and county council have zero authority to dictate policy in our schools. The council is forced to pass along the full amount of funding “recommended” by the state, not a penny less. They can choose not to grant more to our schools than that immutable figure, but never less.
For all intents and purposes, our public school system is untouchable, no matter how much impassioned rhetoric is thrown around.

    1. That is a fact and good reason not to vote for Julie Giordano! I will vote for Ernie Davis before I vote for Julie!

  11. If she is so concerned about the schools then she should have ran for the School Board. Only an I d i o t would vote for that inexperienced M o r o n!

  12. That pack of rabid Progressives she is running around with have all been promised jobs just for helping her, if she gets elected!

Have you seen that billboard with her and Dan Cox on it? Well the Beauchamp guy that paid for the billboard has been promised a department head job with benefits!

Julie Giordano plans to create a new Water and Sewer Department in the County and that’s why she needs her buddies to get elected on the council to approve it!

    DO NOT VOTE FOR:

    James Winn
    Brad Gillis
    Kyle Cole
    Jasmine Knorr
    Shane Baker
    AJ Angelo

A vote for them is a vote for Julie Giordano and higher taxes!

    1. Is Jasmine Knorr part of the family that wants that special state legislation for the Red Roost that Cornbread Anderton and Chris Adams tried to get in Annapolis this year?

  13. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and check with the state judiciary page and remind everyone wow she let her house go into foreclosure! People like her eventually steal from their employer and if you elect her she will embezzle hundreds of thousands of dollars from the county! Mark my word.

And that clown that she runs around with, James Winn, check the case search on him! That’s right! He’s a big alcoholic that got a DUI and got arrested. Don’t vote for this drunk either. Julie needs him on the council to approve her wasteful expenditures! Vote for a real Republican!!!

  14. Don’t be fooled by this woman, she helped paint the Gay Pride stripes in front of the Library with the Salisbury PFLAG LGBTQ group. That’s right, Julie is or was a member of Salisbury PFLAG. Google it if you don’t know what it is!

  15. Does anyone remember when Julie Giordano used to run the Transvestite and Drag Queen Shows at the Reign Restaurant in Salisbury at the Twilley Shopping Center? I do! That’s her management experience! Do not vote for that woman, she is not a Conservative Republican!

  16. Suggestion

“Mom (Julie Giordano,) Blasts Maryland Teachers’ Association For Claiming Standardized Tests Are ‘Dangerous’ And ‘White-Centered’

  17. Why is Julie Giordano still employed as a school teacher in our public schools if she hates her job so much??

John Palmer? Ann Suthowski? Tonia Lewis? Gene Malone?

  18. googled her name nothing comes up with regard to pflag or the restaurant so if you have the link post it please!
