In a new poem, a gender-bending minister for the nation’s third-largest denomination says that queerness is divine.
Last year, the United Methodist Church accepted Isaac Simmons, who regularly preaches dressed as a drag queen under the name Ms. Penny Cost, as a candidate for ordination. Since that time, Simmons, who serves as an associate pastor at Hope United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Illinois, has challenged basic theological concepts, projecting a worldview where divinity rests not in God but in queerness.
In a church preparing to split over LGBTQ issues, the drag queen pastor, who embraces queer theology while barely attempting to plaster on the basic tenets of Christian theology, has become a lightning rod. Conservatives argue that Simmons’ role as a celebrated figure among progressive Methodists proves the church has become so radically liberal as to forswear Christ. Progressives promote Simmons and invite him to preach in drag as a way to challenge the conservative position on sexuality that the denomination officially still takes.
The United Methodist Church was ready to split in 2020, but that has been postponed until 2024 because its quadrennial general conference was canceled due to COVID-19. The liberal wing will retain the denomination’s name and permit same-sex marriage while the conservatives will join a new denomination where same-sex marriage is forbidden.
“God is nothing,” the self-described “dragavangelist” repeats throughout the poem, adding, “the Bible is nothing” and “religion is nothing.” In the end, he concludes God and the Bible are nothing “unless we wield it into something.”
“God must be f***ing nothing,” he says, “if her boundaryless, transubstantiated bodies of color are run down, beaten, and strewn in the streets of America instead of ruling the runways of life.”
He speaks of God not as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but rather as the source of queerness, describing him as “nothing but a drag queen with a microphone of biblical f***ing proportions,” “nothing, but if she were, she would be ‘yes, queen’-ing her way down the runways of Paris and Montreal,” and “nothing, but if she were, she would be a seamstress of divide couture, weaving together string theory and self portraits to form the fiercest gowns of queer existence.”
surely not the God that I revere praise and love! Maybe this lost soul ought to read a little more of the Bible especially the part about Gehenna!
What kind of sick ass is this? No wonder people are leaving the Methodist church in droves. I would too!
It appears the whole family is shady.
This sick s.o.b. belongs in an insane asylum. Says a lot about the Methodist church
All madness, no method.
And they don’t even know origin of water on our planet.it’s not settled science? Science continues to unravel the mysteries of the universe and we continue to learn that we were wrong in some of our theories.
No matter how hard we try no matter how hard they will try to eliminate any evidence of our creator. His greatness continues to amaze us.
We have his image we have his love we have his promise that we can move mountains, but its there we fall short. So no matter how hard we try how to restart a modern day Tower of Babel. A United Nations, marxism communism, illuminati, masons NWO, CFR, Billengers etc etc or whatever you want to call the pagan side of humanity in this day and age. In the end they will all fail. These are the men currently in control and they no longer have fear of being exposed as GODLESS!
Why?
Because our churches have gone limp! We all know what we have allowed to happen. It boils down to we have turned our back on God! that’s not going to bide well for us in the long run. The Luciferian track record. Its just a matter of time before it will again gum up the works. Christianity preaches love, Fellowship be good to your brothers and sisters.
Cancelling is what we are supposed to be doing to the non believers. we are to still love them provide them with food water, we are not supposed to support their deviation from GODS TRUTH
I’m thinking that when judgement day comes, this guys is going to have a problem.
dont they have a gay church ministry
Not first. Asbury UMC has one.
They will never allow the conservatives to split off. They have been lying about this for years. They have closed the door which allowed churches to buy their way out of the denomination. They will force this down the throats of those that cannot bring themselves to walk away because they have always been Methodist.
80 conservative churches just walked on them in Georgia.
Glad at least one conference is allowing churches to leave. They slammed that door shut in the Pen-Del conference after several left.
Church reminds me of a late nite talk show:
– entrance and folks stand (tv folks hoot holler, clap)
– the welcome and folks say good morning (tv same)
– sermon (monologue where the audience reacts – look around during the sermon, folks react)
– song (singers/bands)
– give thanks (some religions have the offering which includes a charitable donations – sometimes TWICE)
– close out, exit and folks stand (good bye until tomorrow nite, audience claps)
After action report – attendance good, church is well – attendance bad then mailings, emailings, neighborhood visits (ratings good, show continues, ratings bad – yanked)
Lather/Rinse/Repeat
This is the satanic lukewarm church the bible talks about.
