In April, nine Officers were trained in the use of LIDAR speed measurement. LIDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging, but is also know as “LASER” due to the emission of an infrared laser beam that reflects off a moving object. These devices will be used on a regular basis, including in neighborhoods for residential speed enforcement and during car show events.

If you are driving the speed limit – you wouldn’t be posting negative statements. Slow down and get there in one piece so you can go back home to your family and the cops don’t have to show up to your house to inform your loved ones you’re not coming home. Leave them alone and let them do their job. I don’t like getting tickets either but I also know rules are made for a reason. And while your at it . . . IF THE LIGHT IS YELLOW AND YOU ARE A QUARTER MILE DOWN THE ROAD IT IS GOING TO TURN RED !!!! STOP RUNNING RED LIGHTS. Nothing is more devastating than to respond to an ambulance call and a child has been injured just because you wanted to save 4 seconds.
There are better ways to get folks to slow down. If an officer cruised the highway at the speed limit, drivers will definitely follow. Should a driver pass, they will be ticketed. It also puts the officer on the road to help prevent road rage, and to assist drivers with emergency needs. This method of so called slowing drivers is no more than a money maker. Current government that controls law enforcement does not want drivers to slow down. Just like smoking, they don’t want people to quit smoking. There is too much revenue opportunity.
