WEST OCEAN CITY – A new West Ocean City restaurant will soon join a growing portfolio of Taustin Group enterprises.
After more than a year of construction and several delays, the Taustin Group is eager to announce the opening of its newest restaurant, Pier 23. CEO Cole Taustin said Ocean City’s first container food port – located along the West Ocean City Commercial Harbor – will begin serving the public this summer.
“It’s completely unique to the area,” he said. “Ocean City doesn’t have anything remotely close to it.”
In 2017, the Taustin family purchased the former Captain’s Galley site with plans to develop a new restaurant, Mad Fish Bar & Grille. But after a year of operation, the business was forced to close when an electrical fire destroyed most of the building.
“It destroyed all of our storage, all of our kitchen, and the smoke destroyed the entire second floor,” Cole Taustin said. “The entire building was also doused with water that was pumped out of the harbor.”
That’s funny. Where’s the Buffet? I know shipping container Concepts are trending but locals prefer Cracker Barrel and Chick-fil-A and the Minority Vacationers that now come to OC want Casinos and all-you-can-eat and-get-everything. Face it OC is no longer a Charming Beach destination for the sophisticated. The Delaware Beaches are cleaner and not as overdeveloped although they are getting there too. Nothing but Strip Malls and Outlets and slapped upped Motels and Restaurant Cartels like Finns and Big Fish serving up Sysco shit and pretending it’s local. So-called Craft Beer and Brick Oven Pizza. It’s all just business it’s not local Culture.
Springfest Saturday. OC City Fail put out a presser around 11am today stating Springfest was canceled and may Starship will perform tonite….next presser at 5pm.
Real story…Friday the vendors were informed that there would be no Sunday Springfest but ok for Saturday. Vendors decided to leave, causing the Saturday cancelation. Years ago a big weather event caused a cancelation but vendors were not reimbursed from a pro rated standpoint.
This time they up and left. Should be interesting for Sunfest!
lmao! yeah I want to pay to sit in a crappy shipping container and eat a crappy sandwich next to a crappy harbor! now thats culture!
