The state got more than enough money through its 57¢/gallon gas tax to maintain and repair it and others, but the governor and legislators siphoned it all off to pay for things not having to do with bridge and highway maintenance, even though they were made aware of the danger.
Exactly! Democrat run city for at least last 70 years. City constructed, owned, maintained 50 year old bridge.

Yeah, Pennsylvania rerouted money for Pittsburgh’s bridges to the PA State Police. Yet another reason to slash budgets and reallocate funds.
