At least four people – including a corrections officer – were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after inmates set a series of fires inside a state correctional facility in Baltimore Sunday evening.
The city’s fire department responded at around 8 p.m. Sunday night to reports of a fire inside the jail alongside Baltimore fire officials.
The state fire marshal and Maryland Department of Emergency was called in to help, as well as local EMS.
Baltimore Fire officials said crews ‘quickly extinguished’ the flames.
The Maryland Fire Marshal tweeted that 21 people were treated for minor smoke inhalation inside the facility.
Still think the USA utilizes the dessert areas of the country where there is nothing around for tens of miles and build giant super max like prisons.
Why not? Because we never have or laws prevent it??? We are over 1/5th thru the 21st century and the only major true automation headway has been elimination of pay phones with cell phones that take pictures and be able to watch tv and people. Make a super duper maximum prison, efficient enough to run on its own. Solar, water (if ships can turn seawater to fresh water, figure out how to get water to the dessert), grow food, have cattle and build a true wall around the damn thing. We have wasted hundreds of millions of tax payer money on pork projects……..figure it out.
Until then there will always be overcrowded prisons, criminals let go early to cause harm again, lack of a workforce, etc, etc, etc.
Or do nothing and we continue the same ol same ol.
You mean sort of like French Guyana, but with 700 count bedsheets and a nice buffet after work each day?
Liberals would find a way to make it unbearable for everyone.
