A Federal Judge Rules DACA as “Illegal,” The Reaction From Local Dreamers

Recipients from the Deferred Action for Early Childhood program or DACA, are speaking out after a judge ruled the program illegal. A non-profit in Georgetown say they are here to assist them.

Dreamers once again left feeling unstable. After a federal judge recently ruled that the program was illegal saying the Obama administration failed to follow federal administrative rules when launching the program in 2012.

Tania Hernandez Orozco is a Delaware State University alumni. She says she’s tired of the instability and urges the Biden administration to take more action.

“People are scared. They’re like my meeting was literally tomorrow and now it stopped. They promised a pathway to citizenship within their first 20 days we haven’t seen that,” said Hernandez Orozco.

La Esperanza in Georgetown helps assist many Dreamers in Sussex county. Bryant Garcia the immigration specialist says the ruling prevents new applicants from joining DACA.

“At the moment we may be pausing on the initial DACA applications but we continue to help with renewals so even if you never used our services before you can still call us to schedule an appointment to help you renew your DACA because that’s something you can still do,” explained Garcia.

  1. DACA is illegal and always has been. Congress would not/did not ever approve a change to the law to permit it. It is a fiction from Obama’s pen. We may or may not have some sympathy for those it targeted, but their status under existing law was and is clear – illegal alien.

Legal immigrants of varying backgrounds and skills are welcome and needed.

Illegal aliens are not; back to home country and make application for a visa and admission. Then you’re very welcome and entire DACA bit goes away.

  2. I’m so very glad the judge ruled them illegals because that’s what most of them are, illegal. They need to go back to where they came from and try doing something the right way for a change.

  3. If it bothers you become legal and the worries are gone. Else go back where you came from and quit whining

  4. Should also ban chain migration, this should only include MOTHER FATHER SIBLINGS with documentation who the parents are the same. No aunts uncles grandparents cousins etc.
