Civil Lawsuits Filed Against Ocean City

The attorney for two teens who claim Ocean City, Maryland police violently Tased and kicked them for vaping, is planning to sue.

Tuesday, attorney Malcom Ruff said they sent notice to the mayor that both Taizier Griffith and Brian Anderson intend to file civil suits against the city to seek what the attorney calls civil justice for violation of their constitutional rights to be free from unreasonable police force.

Taizier Griffin’s brother Tayvin claims their lives will never be the same after this horrible experience and that every young black man deserves to be treated with respect and dignity by police officers.

On June 6th, 18-year-old Taizier claims he was tased for vaping on the boardwalk.

Police say officers on patrol spotted Griffin vaping and told him it was prohibited.

A video tape of the tasing went viral.

On June 12th, another teen 19-year-old Brian Anderson claims Ocean City police used excessive force and claims he was kneed and kicked by police on the boardwalk for vaping.

Anderson says police brutality is no laughing matter. He said it’s very difficult to deal with emotionally, mentally and physically.

  1. I would love to see the full event. Apparently it has been viewed by Mary Beth Carozza and it pretty much shows the teens in, let’s say, another light other than innocent victims. Is it just me or does it seem like this is a repeating pattern – young people with no social graces and a violently disrespectful attitude taunt and disobey police – police have to eventually engage – 30 seconds of video shows up on the web and the mob mentality screams like crazy – then a fancy attorney gets involved and sues – teens get a chunk of change.

I sure hope the entire video is put out for the public to see…..

    Happy almost July 4

  2. I certainly hope no judge will allow it in his or her court room! They absolutely should have done what the policemen told them and none of it would have happened!

  3. Bob Aswell.....Realist

What the Hell is happening in this Country? Two out of town thugs come to Ocean City and decide if they disagree with the ordinance that bans their individual conduct on the boardwalk. The town council duly and legally passed a law for EVERYONE that has the habit. Well executed and with non partial authority the police came upon a pair of malcontents who being imported from the armpits of the World, decided they’d challenge the authority and validity of the local folks who trusted the electees to preserve the rights of others.
Understanding who these thugs are and their intentions, the sanctity of the Town of Ocean City and their police took the appropriate action. The Town has had apples out of the bag of these vagabonds before in which force had to be expended in order to remain in control. What’s the idea in ones mind that maintains these standards are for everyone except them? BLM bullshit is the culprit here that precipitated this incident. The idea is, ‘I’m black so I can do whatever the Hell I want to’. When taken in check, then we explore the fallacy ‘the police are at fault’. What a crock. If you DON’T have the mental capacity to realize RULES ARE FOR EVERYONE then keep you CRIMINAL ASS on the other side of the Bay. The general train of thought is I can capitalize on the fact I can sue the police because they’re doing their job. I’m the bait for litigation because I’m too damn lazy to work.
This is the norm by some liberals who equate criminal conduct with reparations for ancient inequities by those who live in a dream World. Ocean City owes no one anything. These two thugs in training were WRONG and too juvenile in the head to accept it. If they’d have tangled with Prince George cops they’d have came to in the Bethesda Hospital. They were LUCKY over here.
Now, I image you wonder where I got experience enough to make these comments. Well, I was a police officer in two different jurisdictions and one of which was Ocean City during Pappas and Cropper. I KNOW what cops have to deal with there from this criminal talent who makes the weekly pilgrimage to the this ‘down the Shore’ location so they can raise Hell.
As to their 2 buck mouthpiece, I’d worry about him about as much as what I’m going to eat for supper. The bar association should pull him aside and explain the exercise of force when you resist arrest. Don’t worry, some Worcester Co. judge and jury will.
If I were named in this frivolous lawsuit, I’d tell him to put a big sloppy kiss on me where the Sun don’t shine.

  4. First, what’s the legal age in MD to vape? Punishment/penalties for violations?
Second, what does OC ordinances say about punishment for offense of vaping, refusal to stop, resisting arrest, etc?

I’m confident these two fine young fellows only ventured into OC during a break in the church camp revival they were attending! /sarc

  5. Jackpot baby. That’s exactly what these two thugs wanted. Get roughed up a bit by the Ocean City Police and hit the Ocean City Lottery. Will be a nice payday.

  6. where’s jessie, al and maxine? time to turn oc into portland! just another nogo zone for people with any common sense!
