Pence says ‘proud’ of efforts on Jan. 6, further distancing self from Trump, amid possible 2024 run

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday night appeared to further distance himself from former President Trump, saying he was “proud” to have certified the 2020 presidential election results the day of the Capitol breach.

“I will always be proud that we did our part on that tragic day to reconvene the Congress and fulfilled our duty under the Constitution and the laws of the United States,” Pence said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, in Simi Valley California.

Pence who appears to be laying the groundwork for a 2024 presidential speech nevertheless set out an American First agenda in the speech, according to news reports.

Trump has since the Jan. 6 breach said that he’s “very disappointed” in Pence not having sent the votes back to state legislatures and has further suggested that he would still be president had Pence not participated in the process.

  1. No one in any party with an ounce of sense would ever vote for Pence. For a man supposed to be soooo religious he did not stand by his country and the President of the United States and he was the Vice ,traitor and wrong move no one cares what he thinks you are done exit to another planet.

  2. Your duty was to oversee the debate by state electors, not eliminate it. You miserably failed to carry out that duty, even when it was clear that there was no actual threat of bodily harm.

  3. Good governor and fine VP until he followed bad advice and did not permit state legislatures who had been bypassed in election certification by usurper officials in their states. Several state legislatures wrote Pence asking him to return the certifications to them so they could perform their constitutional function. Might or might not have changed electoral vote tallies, and delay would have been short. He was aware of the issue.

    Won’t vote for him again.

  4. Democrats PAID him off in the Millions !!!! Traitors don’t work for free !!!! Now he can Retire Comfortably !!!!
