Jonathan Bauer, Ocean City hero who saved toddler, will get Thunderbird ride of lifetime

A hometown hero who jumped into Assawoman Bay to rescue a little girl in May will get a ride of a lifetime as a thank you.

Atlantic General Hospital’s Jonathan Bauer has been selected to fly with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as part of their “Hometown Hero” program that honors deserving local people, OC Air Show officials announced.

On Friday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m., Bauer will get to experience the ride of his life in the backseat of an F-16 with Thunderbird #8 Major Jason Markzon as his pilot, taking off from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.

On his 45-minute flight, Bauer will experience the thrill of hitting up to seven Gs, along with the accompanying twists, spins and turns of the best roller coaster ride imaginable.

  1. The man stepped up to the plate and saved the child. He did it without hesitation and heroically.

Taking a ride in the back of an F-16 ?

It will be great! He deserves it.
