Florida sugar mill worker, 86, ‘pulled out a gun and shot his boss dead moments after his request to continue working for another year was refused’

An 86-year-old sugar mill worker in Florida was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his boss when he learned he would be fired.

The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said Felix Cabrera, 86, shot his boss after he was informed he would be let go from his job at the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida.

Cabrera had worked at the Belle Glade sugar mill for 31 years and on Friday morning he was instructed to clock out and not return to work, police said in a statement.
