However, we are hearing from experts, media advocates, and activists who have all come to a similar conclusion.
The complaint represents an effort to prevent a news outlet from holding a top city leader accountable.
While city leaders have been silent about the FCC complaint filed by Mosby’s office activists and experts have jumped to FOX45’s defense.
Political analysts tell us a news outlet cannot be silenced just because an elected leader doesn’t like the coverage.
“You are using financial money, taxpayer money to fight your own personal grievance with a news entity. We are using taxpayer money to try and quiet a First Amendment Right of freedom of the press,” said Bryan Nehman on WBAL Radio.
In the complaint, Mosby’s communication director alleges FOX45’s coverage of her boss is quote: “blatantly slated, dishonest, misleading– racist and extremely dangerous.”
A non-profit called “The Media Institute” writing the complaint is, “a direct and unacceptable threat to the first amendment rights of the journalists involved.”
