Hogan criticizes GOP as a ‘circular firing squad’ that had ‘worst four years’ under Trump

Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Sunday lambasted the GOP as a “circular firing squad” attacking each other and said the party experienced “the worst four years” under former President Donald Trump.

The comments from Hogan come as Republican lawmakers prepare to oust Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney from her position as GOP conference chair and amid infighting within the party over whether to continue to follow Trump, who has also called for her removal.

The Republican governor, an outspoken critic of Trump, told NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet The Press” that most GOP leadership does not hold Trump accountable because “they’re concerned about retaliation” from the former President.

“They’re concerned about being attacked within the party.

It just bothers me that you have to swear fealty to the dear leader or you get kicked out of the party. It just doesn’t make any sense,” Hogan said. “It’s sort of a circular firing squad where we’re just attacking members of our own party instead of focusing on solving problems or standing up and having an argument that we can debate the Democrats on some of the things that the Biden administration is pushing through.”

“Look, we had the worst four years we’ve had ever in the Republican party, losing the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate, and successful politics is about addition and multiplication not subtraction and division,” Hogan continued.

  1. It’s fine and grand for Hogan to call down others but let’s hear from what he’s done for Baltimore. I don’t think having students there coming out of High School with a 1.31 GPA is anything to brag about.

    1. He tried to help Bmore, fell on deaf ears, new mayor same results.

Not an excuse, just a fact.

Now could he put a bit of pressure on them?????? (Yes is the answer to that question).

  2. This guy is a pure nut case. He is even talking like Hitler did in Nazi Germany. He is also following the Democrat Maxism agenda and thinks all of us are as ignorant as he is.

MD has not had any good years during his leadership.

  3. The state of Maryland has had it’s worst years under this fat s.o.b. Wish I could buy him for what he is worth and sell him for what he thinks he is worth.

  4. We had the best four years with Trump. Time to get rid of some more swamp people in 2022. This country is a mess since Biden took over. To many swamp creatures all around.

  5. No, you are wrong sir. The worst years are when you have been showing your jealousy and hatred for the good president. You have done a lot of damage with your liberal ways. We will be glad when you are out of office. No need in thinking you have a future in politics because you don’t. Oh you are common enough, but we know better than to vote for you.

    1. Bob Aswell.....Realist

Who the Hell has ever said Bidumb was good at ANYTHING. Send this damn fool for a drug test. If 47 yrs. of stupidity isn’t self evident then what is?

  6. This RINO is thankfully term-limited! Hopefully, his career is over as he has shown his true colors!

Unfortunately, the chances of actually electing a real conservative republican in this socialist state is zilch-point-diddly-squat!

  7. Hogan has been up there in the Baltimore area to much with all those shady Democrats and forgot what party he was in. He has done nothing but complain about the Republicans for the last four years. Why don’t he just go ahead and change over to the Democrat Party???

  8. Boss hog Hogan needs to criticize no one at all, Maryland really hasn’t done so good under his administration. A lot of hot air is all he is.

  9. fat ass cant even keep the bay bridge open, but he’s gonna tell us how to run the country. when he cant even run a toll booth!

  10. Hogan has been a placeholder who kept Socialists reined in a bit. He did less harm than either of the OweMalley clones he ran against would have. That’s the positive side of the ledger.

He’s heading for the door and leaving a vacuum. which is a monumental disservice to Republicans across the board. The Lt. Governor’s decision not to run should have been earlier. Hogan has not pushed a Republican agenda, at least not one that Maryland Republicans would recognize. 7 years of Hogan and Baltimore schools are woeful beyond description. Baltimore is an urban warzone. He could have hauled his butt 30 miles up the road, dropped anchor and twisted arms to force action. AWOL. No action to protect the 2A. Instead of warming to President Trump, or biting his tongue, he decided to be the reincarnation of McCain and to curry favor with the MSM. That moment in the sun which he’s been lapping up will make an Arctic cold snap seem balmy when the MSM bosses put him under the bus.

He’s had almost 8 years to make Maryland better for all Marylanders, and he’s squandered it in favor of personal ambition and smiling for the camera. He’s richly earned the unkind thoughts and words accruing from his failed stewardship. Go away, Larry.
