A Sad Day Coming For Frontier Town

Frontier Town near Ocean City, MD, has for years has been a fun place to take your kids. They get to experience the Wild West, everything from Can Can shows and pony rides, to the Native American Village with its traditional dances. You get to see the shootout at the OK Corral, the trial of Lopez, the Stage Coach with the morning show and bank robbery, and a Wild West Show complete with Roman Riding, Buckboard races, and mounted shooting. Cowboys are roaming the streets with their horses tethered to the posts or them riding through town greeting all of the guests and putting smiles on children’s faces that they will remember for years to come. Generations have come to Ocean City to be able to take their kids and then grandkids to Frontier Town.
Now imagine going into that same Wild West town with no horses………. No cowboys riding through town, no pony rides, No horses being petted and ridden by wide eyed children. They help create the ambiance of what Frontier Town was!
Imagine no Stage Coach rides!!!!
Imagine no Can Can show( the jokes in that show have been around for many many years and are FUN…… they don’t need to be removed!!!!!)
Imagine not running the Steam Engine train back into the woods and it getting held up!!!!
To the company( Sun Communities)that has purchased Frontier Town and is changing the name to Western Experience, and is turning the Nugget into a Bar, along with all of the other changes mentioned above, I hope you are happy. You are taking one of the last fun things for kids in the Ocean City area away. Kids would come back year after year to see my son and the other cowboys and have fun. Some kids whose lives were fragile….. the cowboys lived for those moments… to put smiles on those kids faces that might not make it til the next summer.
You promised those men and women that their jobs wouldn’t change. They rehearsed, memorized lines, (for ALL of the different parts of the shows), learned how to ride horses and take care of those animals, worked 10,12,14 hours a day in costume and heat to now be told it is ALL GONE!
I hope you all share and let’s let Sun Communities know what a mistake they have made!!!!!!
Better yet, please take a moment and send a note letting Corporate know what you think of their decision. Below is an address where to send it to:

  1. So all the things that made OC fun are going away. Instead, we have idiots in their h2o rice rockets and drunk high school kids. Soon, I’ll bet they close all the old Pro golfs. Well, what does it matter anymore- millenials refuse to have kids now, anyway.

  2. Just like Halloween is now adult parties and in most places kids can’t trick or treat anymore either because it’s illegal or too dangerous.

  3. Our camping group is extremely disappointed with Sun Communities. You are taking away alot of benefits and raising the prices so high that camping has become unaffortable. At a time with this pandemic, alot of families have resorted to camping to get out of the house safely while distancing.

We are soliciting other camping groups to boycott Sun Communities because of their pricing structure. Hopefully it will affect their thought processes. Maybe they will see the light.

  4. We are boycotting Sun communities with our camping group because the prices have made camping unaffortable. In this time of pandemic, many families rely on camping to get out of the house. The additional fee to reserve the site is ridculous. If the site is available when you book, it should be yours not have to pay an additional feek, whick is already too high.

  5. We are very disappointed with Sun Communities. They have raised their prices to make camping unaffordable PLUS added a site fee to reserve you site. If your site is available when you call, it should be yours. You have taken away many benefits that draw campers.

With this pandemic families have relied on camping to entertain them. Many have purchased campers for this reason, only to realize they can’t afford it.

Our camping group has boycotted Sun Communities and are encouraging other to do so. Maybe they will see the light.

  6. Sun Communities has ruined camping for us and several others in our camping group. They have raised prices so high that it has become unaffordable. They are also charging a site fee to reserve your site unbelievable. During this pandemic several families purchased a camper to entertain their families, just to realize they can’t afford it with the new owners rates. We stay at Sun Resorts at lease 10 times a year and will not any longer.

We are boycotting this group of owners and encouraging others to do so as well.

  7. I gave up on that place once it was sold. Not worth the time or effort. Time to find another place to hang.

  8. Typical resort mentality. Put in a bar, less payroll, and overhead for more profit. Face it, It’s gone. Big business is moving in, small town feel is moving out.

  9. How sad that companies take what is fun for families and kids for years and just remove it. I doubt that I will go to this new place at all.

  10. it truly is a sad day to close or change frontier town.how bout makin improvement and build the new biz somewhere close by for the adult time.

    1. This is so sad, as a young girl that was one of my favorite memories the train ride got held up and I had the gold. Something I will never forget. I’m 56 years old and forever will be my favorite time at Frontier town. To take this spectacular place for children away for the old might dollar to line your pockets is SICK! Boycotting is what it will be!

  11. why would they close something that kids look forward to in the summer? I took my kids there m they took there kids there and now my grandkids were looking fwd to taking theirs!! so sad to take away this clean fun and enjoyment!! Not to mention all those people losing their jobs!!!! So sad…………..

  12. Well they are going to have Trans guys as dancers and a Gay Pride Parade everyday at noon. Bathrooms will be open to anyone, and foodstamp cards accepted at the canteen.

  13. As a former OC bus driver, I had inquired at Sun about possible positions available. They must not really need anyone as they have yet to even reply to my queries. Two years now…..

  14. It’s a shame that big business comes in to ruin all of the things we enjoyed as kids. I grew up going there, I have taken my children there and was looking forward to taking my grandchildren. It’s totally ridiculous to raise prices so high for camping and charge a fee to guarantee your site and take stuff away. They don’t want family campgrounds anymore. They just want the big bucks. Sad!

  15. well since it is changing and prices are getting out of control, sounds like Sun Communities will soon be doing what seems to be what they want, another housing community or shopping center maybe both. I enjoyed time there with my kids and grandkids, you can bet I will not be back

I have been coming to Frontier Town since I was 4… I’m 42 this year. Every year several times a year my family goes. What a shame to do this 😢

  17. We’ve been coming to frontier town for 20 years. We have brought the grandkids there for years also. Since Sun took over prices have gotten to high to afford. It may be cheaper to go to Disneyworld. It’s the same with all their campgrounds. So we will not be coming back and we will be avoiding any campground owned by Sun.
