A prominent Baltimore attorney is calling for the resignation of the city inspector general.
J. Wyndal Gordon alleged Baltimore Inspector General Isabel Cumming is biased in how she handles investigations.
Cumming has served as Baltimore City’s inspector general for the past three years. She is the first female and Hispanic to have the job.
“I think they are using my office as a deflection. Deflection on the issues that really surround them, which is a federal investigation,” Cumming said.
A federal investigation involves Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby and his wife, Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. The FBI inquiry comes on the heels of a city inspector general finding that Mosby incorrectly reported her work travel expenses.
Gordon said he doesn’t like the inspector general’s findings and argued the report, and others, are biased and untrustworthy.
Gordon denies he’s speaking out on behalf of the Mosbys, saying he’s the voice of city businesspeople who feel the inspector general should be looking into other, more pressing issues.
“When we hear all these stories, OK, you are spending all this time and effort going after Marilyn Mosby and folks like that? Meanwhile, we have some serious concerns in the city,” Gordon said.
