The family of a U.S. Capitol police officer who died by suicide after responding to the insurrection at the Capitol building on January 6 wants his death to be considered in the line of duty.
Howard Liebengood was 51 years old.
A family spokesperson shared the following statement with FOX 5’s Lindsay Watts on Thursday:
“Howie Liebengood was a dedicated and beloved officer who served the public for 15 years. The trauma he experienced on the job resulted in his death. His family hopes and expects the Capitol Police will give him the recognition he deserves, and designate him as an officer who died in the line of duty.”
What does the union say?
Is suicide considered a part of one’s job?
They just want all his benefits. If they were that concerned why didn’t they get him mental health help which they could have used as a workplace condition.
Those in need of mental health assistance are often good at hiding it.
My take is that the suicide was not just because of an existing mental health problem, but because of knowledge of wrongdoing related to Jan6.
Suicide has always been a reason life insurance is denied, and for good reason. This family should absolutely be denied any compensation for a suicide. You don’t like it? Go kill yourself!
YOU SIR HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS if this is the way you think!!!!!!!
