For the second consecutive year there will not be a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ocean City. The event normally draws thousands of spectators and is one of the largest tourist attractions during the off-season.
“The health of our community is of the most importance, but in addition to that is the health and welfare of or participants is also paramount.” Parade Co- Chair Buck Mann said in statement issued Monday night. “Our parade would not be the success it has grown to be over the years without you. Your continued support of the parade has enabled us to raise funds for local scholarships, youth recreation programs, and other charitable events.”
According to Mann, the next attempt at having the parade will be March 12, 2022.
Embers reconstruct, closures of Beach Plaza, Anthonys, BJs, West O Dough Roller, projected redevelopment on North OC. Parades postponements, no boat show, bikes, cars, other events.
Wow lots have changed, changing.
Sad part more to follow.
Look around. OC is quickly become a ghost town. Aside from the parade, what else is there to do anymore there? Drink stale beer that’s been sitting around for months?
I think it’s past time to re-open,but these businesses aren’t going away due to Covid shutdowns. The Beach Plaza is being developed into prime hotel/commercial space, the same for BJ’s(bought by Ropewalk),same with the Embers,Anthony’s property is owned by Harrison Group and will offer same staple items and more, the Dough Roller WOC had me scratching my head when they moved there after Applebees. Just not the right spot for another DR,I guess. And just like the Beach Plaza, the Phillip’s family decided a few years ago to vacate that building and it is also now being developed into residential and retail. Let’s reopen, but it’s not all gloom and doom.
