Bear-Crawl-A-Thon to Benefit Mezick Family

The Athlete Academy and Fruitland Falcons have partnered for a scholarship event that will benefit the children of Erik Mezick.

Mezick was the driver of a tractor-trailer that went off the side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel two weeks ago.

The event will consist of an hour-long bear crawl and jogging competition.

Sign-ups begin at noon Sunday, January 10 at the Fruitland Falcons Sports Complex and the event begins at around 12:45 p.m.

The academy says the goal of the event is to promote how family sticks together and endures no matter the circumstances.

All attendees are required to wear a face covering at all times.
