Wicomico Officials Talk Priorities With Shore Legislators

SALISBURY – Legislative updates and a discussion on Wicomico County’s top priorities highlighted a meeting with state representatives this month.

With less than a month remaining until the Maryland General Assembly enters its 2021 legislative session, members of the Eastern Shore Delegation met with the Wicomico County Council on Dec. 15 to discuss the county’s top priorities. Attendees included Delegates Johnny Mautz, Chris Adams, Carl Anderton, Charles Otto, Wayne Hartman and Sheree Sample-Hughes and Senator Mary Beth Carozza.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, legislators told county leaders this week they are preparing for new rules and guidelines for when the session convenes on Jan. 13. Adams, however, noted this year’s biggest challenge related to the state’s budget.

“Especially going into session this year, the procedure is going to be different but the work remains the same,” he said. “In fact, some of the most difficult challenges we are going to have as a state relate to the budget, how we are going to fund priorities and what that looks like.”

  1. Of course Josh Hastings wants a free hand out to his Socialist brothers Nick Simpson and Jake Day. Why is downtown Salisbury any better than the rest of the city or the county. It’s Ok for Libtards to discriminate though!!

For his part, Councilman Josh Hastings encouraged the delegation to support the Horizon program, a new residential tax credit program to incentivize large-scale hotel or multi-family residential development in the downtown Salisbury area.

“We need density downtown if we want the downtown to grow and survive,” he said, “especially if we we’re going into an economic slowdown and recession.”

  2. Bob Aswell ... Realist

That’s a damn joke. They’ve done NOTHING since this part of Armageddon has begun and NOT a peep out of their mouths about Hoggan’s lunacy toward the people of Md. Corozza who’s supposedly leading their coalition has been worthless. The real story is they don’t know what to do so they hide. Adams , another damn fool talks about the shortage in the treasury yet not a one of them mentioned the fact Hoggan spent 9 million unauthorized bucks with his family for tests not approved by the FDA but that’s swept under the rug. The rest of them didn’t do a damn thing last session and are just ‘dead wood’. Now, Otto says he wants ‘another term’ so he can continue to do NOTHING. Be dammed if I’ll vote for him ever. Him and the ‘Mighty Eastern Shore Delegation’ can kiss me where the sun don’t shine.
The part that’s a real is, the people who’ve endured this debacle will vote for them AGAIN. Seems that doing nothing is in Vogue with no end in sight. People on the Shore don’t seem to understand you can’t make sense if you don’t have any. The ‘ins’ have demonstrated this in technicolor and still the meat and potatoes of performance are disregarded because they’re ‘nice folks’ which makes us ,the voters, always finish LAST. Stop and think for a change just how valuable your vote is when you’re at the polls.
