White House reportedly spending $44K on carpet cleaning ahead of inauguration

The White House will spend a little over $44,000 to deep-clean its carpets before President-elect Joe Biden moves in amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report.

According to federal financial documents cited by TMZ, the amount will be spent on “Inauguration Carpet Cleaning” inside the 55,000-square-foot mansion, which has 132 rooms.

It is unclear how many rooms will have fresh carpeting, according to the outlet.

While a major scrubbing of the presidential home occurs regularly when a new commander-in-chief moves in, a more thorough cleaning is expected this time around due to the virus.
