It should come as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention over the last year that police are solving less murders as a result of new challenges that have been created by Covid-19.
In fact, homicides rose almost 40% for the country’s 10 largest police departments in the first 11 months of 2020, the Wall Street Journal reported this weekend. The report noted that detectives across the country have been “overwhelmed” by the rise in homicides after the rate had been falling since the 1990s.
Covid has made traditional police work, including face to face interviews, difficult to undertake. This comes amid a year where civil unrest has been high and the public’s trust of police has sunk.
Mistrust of the police?? Caused by COVID??
Seriously?
Mistrust of the police is THEIR OWN FAULT.
Beating people for something they said?? CONFISCATING BILLIONS from innocent citizens at gunpoint?? Shooting people in the back?? Arresting people for not wearing a f’ing MASK?? Pulling people from their cars and making them stand on the side of the road IN HANDCUFFS (for the citizens (!?) safety) and letting your mon drive by and see you. Letting vandalism and property crimes go unnoticed but making sure that plenty of officers are available for “traffic patrol” (like this is some Afghan mission”, because if there is ONE THING the police are well known for, it is traffic tickets and the never ending fines. Murders and bank robberies go unsolved, but traffic fines MUST be given priority.
Protecting and serving. That ended about 20 years ago. And taking as much money as they possibly can from you know who (We, the people) started up right afterwards.
We, the people know the police are a necessity. We are just tired on an occupying army. An army above the law and a power unto themselves. God help the ones who don’t recognize their omnipotence.
