Comedian Bill Maher compared America to one huge family Friday night and urged the country to make peace no matter who wins the election, saying “we have to find a way to work together.”
“Let’s not have a civil war with the Trumpers,” Maher said on his HBO show. We’re no good at war and they’re no good at being civil. Let’s skip the civil war and go right to reconciliation.”
Maher, 64, a vociferous critic of President Trump, is also a gun owner and supports the death penalty.
“Thirty-four percent of the voters believe there will be another Civil War within the next five years and I’d like to remind them of one thing: America is a family and the definition of family is people who hate each other without resorting to violence,” he said.
“We have to see each other not as mortal enemies but rather merely as roommates from hell.”
Maher mocked “rich celebrities” who threaten to leave the country but never do and said that citizens who want to divide the country into red and blue states should “shut the f— up.”
After your side has spent 4 years trying to derail our last election now you want peace. I’m sure if Biden won and we tried the same tactics we would be charged with terrorism and even murder because we blocked a highway and a guy died in an ambulance. However if the waiters, public school substitute teachers, baristas and gender studies majors think they caused chaos just wait until they see what machinists, engineers, construction workers, electricians ect can do.
Gosh, Mr. Maher…people on the right aren’t “civil”? Remind me again of who is burning and looting cities? Go ahead, I’ll wait.
