Florida woman in labor refuses to go to hospital until after she voted

A pregnant Florida woman showed up to vote while going into labor — and refused to go to the hospital until she’d cast her ballot in the presidential election, according to a report.

The civic-minded woman stayed in her car while her husband ran into the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office to request her mail-in ballot on Tuesday afternoon, The Orlando Sentinel reported.

Eileen Deliz, an early voting clerk for the Supervisor of Elections, told the newspaper that another staffer issued a vote-by-mail ballot for the woman and waited as she filled it out in her car.

Neither the woman nor her husband, who weren’t publicly identified, explained why she’d showed up to vote as she was going into labor.

“Maybe she wanted to come in-person at one point and that’s why she was waiting, who knows. But she wouldn’t go to the hospital until she voted,” Deliz said.
